Privacy Policy
DEFINITIONS
Account – term used to define the dedicated space for a company within Codeaid to access and use the Service.
Candidate – anyone who is invited to take a Challenge.
Challenge – test that can be given to a Candidate to test his/her skills.
Codeaid – a SaaS (a software as a service) application used to test the skills of a developer as part of a recruitment or training process.
Organization User – a user who has registered for accessing the Account and was assigned with one of the following organization roles: organization recruiter; organization admin or organization owner.
Privacy Policy – this privacy policy which sets forth terms and conditions of personal data processing.
BEFORE YOU USE THE SERVICE AND CREATE AN ACCOUNT AS ORGANIZATION USER OR TAKE A CHALLENGE AS CANDIDATE, PLEASE READ THIS DOCUMENT CAREFULLY AS YOU HEREINAFTER ASSENT TO ITS CONTENTS AND BINDING NATURE.
1. Scope of the privacy policy
1.1. As a company, we value the security and privacy of the personal data of our users and visitors. Personal data is information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.
1.2. This Privacy Policy applies to the personal data that Scopic Software LLC (“Scopic”, “we”, “us”) may collect from you and other users and visitors of the Codeaid website and/or application (“Codeaid”). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully before you create an Account or contribute content to Codeaid. By using Codeaid, you consent to our collecting, using, disclosing, and handling your information as described below.
1.3. This Privacy Policy does not apply to any de-identified information about you, or that is available through the public governmental, state registry, or other records related to your entrepreneurial or business activity.
1.4. You should not use Codeaid if:
1.4.1. you have any concerns about providing information in Codeaid or having such information displayed in Codeaid, or being used in any other way described in this Privacy Policy, or
1.4.2. you do not agree with the provisions of this Privacy Policy.
1.5. Unless the context otherwise requires, capitalized terms not otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy shall have the respective meanings assigned to them in the Terms of Service.
2. Policy updates
2.1. Please review this Privacy Policy periodically, as we may update the terms at any time without prior notice. Your continued use of Codeaid represents your acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree with any updates policy terms at any time, you should cease use of Codeaid.
3. Information we collect
3.1. When we collect information
3.1.1. We collect, process, store and use information about you when you use/visit Codeaid website and/or application, including, but not limited to, when you:
(i) Create an Account on Codeaid;
(ii) Add information to an Account;
(iii) Invite a Candidate to take a Challenge;
(iv) Get the source code written by a Candidate;
(v) Receive the results of a Challenge;
(vi) Create a username and password to access an Account;
(vii) Access an Account;
(viii) Fulfill a Challenge, etc.
3.2. Information submitted by you
3.2.1. When you create an Account on Codeaid, you provide us with the information requested by Codeaid, including your name, surname, email address, your organization’s name and your position in your organization, etc. In case you subscribe for a trial period or our paid subscription plans (Team or Enterprise Account) you will be required to provide us the details of your credit card (including, without limitation, your credit card number, the expiration date of your credit card, your billing address, etc.) or PayPal account data which are stored by a third party service provider.
If you are a Candidate you are required to provide us with your name, surname, email address, your country, and your LinkedIn or Github profile to receive your Challenge results. Codeaid may request other similar information in the future.
Information you need to submit to us may vary depending on your user type.
We do not review or verify the validity, accuracy, or completeness of the information provided; therefore, we encourage our users to ensure that they provide information that is accurate, complete, and current.
3.3. Automatically collected information
3.3.1. We may gather information about you, your device, your MAC or IP address, geographic location, cookies, log files, etc. This helps us customize Codeaid for you to make it more easily accessible and show you the most relevant content.
3.4. Information from third parties
3.4.1. We may receive your personal information from other platforms to which you have previously granted the right to store, use and share your personal information.
3.4.2. We will follow the US federal and / or state laws when it comes to servicing any request for erasing of personal information.
4. Usage and sharing of the collected information
4.1. We store, use and process your data:
4.1.1. based on your consent. If you are a resident of California, you may opt-out at any time by submitting a notice to contact@codeaid.io.
4.1.2. according to legal obligations in cases when we are required by law to store/use/process your data.
4.1.3. in line with our legitimate interests: to protect our and your rights and interests, to improve Codeaid and our business, etc.
4.2. We also store, use and process your data to:
4.2.1. provide you with access to Codeaid and its functionality;
4.2.2. secure correctness of the data stored in Codeaid;
4.2.3. diagnose Codeaid technical mistakes and/or errors;
4.2.4. prevent, identify, eliminate, mitigate, counteract any illegal activity, and
4.2.5. any other purpose specified in this policy and/or Terms of Service and/or the purpose not prohibited by the US law.
4.3. We may use your data for marketing purposes, including communication about new functionality and other Codeaid-related information. Codeaid strictly follows applicable legislation governing unsolicited marketing emails. You can opt out of marketing communication at any time by selecting the unsubscribe option in the email you receive or by contacting Codeaid directly at contact@codeaid.io.
4.4. We may also store your information for retention purposes to comply with any applicable laws.
4.5. We may use the de-identified data for the continued research and development of Codeaid. We may share the deidentified data with third parties.
4.6. We will store and use your personal information only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes set out above.
5. Analytics
5.1. We may aggregate and de-identify personal data and use this data to analyze and monitor our Service. In addition, we may analyze the general behavior and characteristics of Service usage and may use this aggregated, de-identified data to maintain and/or improve Codeaid. The general behavior and characteristics to be analyzed include user interface interactions with the mouse, touchpad and keyboard, etc. We may collect and use aggregated data through the Service, through cookies, and through other means described in this Privacy Policy.
5.2. We can use cookies, pixel tags, web beacons, other analogous technologies in Codeaid to gather information and statistics regarding your usage of Codeaid, to make an analysis of usage of Codeaid, and other purposes specified in this policy and/or Terms of Service, and/or the purpose not prohibited by US law.
5.3. You may reject cookie usage by selecting the respective setting on your web-browser. In this situation some parts of the Codeaid website could be unavailable for you.
6. How can we share your information?
6.1. We will not sell, or rent any of your personal data without your permission, except for the cases stated by this Privacy Policy. Inter alia, we reserve the right to disclose personal information to third parties when we deem such action to be in our legitimate interests. We may disclose personal information to law enforcement bodies and government agencies and officials if we believe in our sole discretion that it is absolutely necessary or appropriate to respond to a subpoena, court order, or other binding legal processes, comply with laws, report suspected illegal activity or violation of our terms and policies, or it is required in any other cases stipulated by the applicable laws.
6.2. If we sell, buy, transfer, receive, obtain or alienate Codeaid in part or in whole, and relevant disclosure is required by the respective counterparty, we can share your information with such a third party requesting the disclosure.
7. Data location
7.1. Scopic uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) services to store information and data. For more detailed information, please check the privacy statement of AWS.
7.2. All information is stored by Scopic in the continental US.
8. Your rights
8.1. If you are a resident of California, you can request to provide you with a copy of all the personal information that we store, use, and process about you.
8.2. You can request us to correct any mistakes, technical errors if the personal data we store about you is inaccurate.
8.3. You can request us to stop processing your personal data or, if you are a resident of California or Virginia, to erase your personal data.
8.4. You can request to remove any unauthorized account depicting you or your likeness.
8.5. You can opt-out from receiving marketing communication.
8.6. You can reach out to us to exercise any other right that you are entitled to in the laws of the jurisdiction under US law from which you have accessed Codeaid.
9. Do Not Track
9.1. We do not track our users for the targeted advertising, and therefore we do not change our data collection approach if we receive a “do not track” signal from your browser.
10. Children’s privacy
10.1. As described in the Terms of Service, Codeaid is only available for persons who are at least eighteen (18) years old. Therefore, Scopic does not knowingly collect or solicit personally identifiable information from children under 18. If Scopic learns that personal information from a child under 18 has been collected, that information will be deleted as quickly as possible. If you believe that a child under 18 may have provided us personal information, please contact us at contact@codeaid.io.
11. General Data Protection Regulation
11.1. Codeaid is hosted in the United States and intends to cater its Services predominantly to US users.
Users accessing Codeaid outside of the United States, e.g. from the European Union, Asia, or any other region with laws or regulations governing personal data collection, use, and disclosure that differ from United States laws, through continued use of Codeaid, which is governed by US law, hereby explicitly agree to transfer their personal information to the United States and hereby provide their consent to such a transfer.
Codeaid adheres to US federal and state privacy laws. Users outside the US use Codeaid at their own risk and it is their sole responsibility to comply with all US rules and laws regarding their use of Codeaid.
12. California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA)
12.1. All users will be notified of changes in this Privacy Policy on Codeaid’s website.
